Valenzuela City now accepts payments for Tax and other Local Government Fees Online

Whether you admit it or not, doing any type of transaction or business to any government office or Local Government in the Philippines, is such an inconvenience, most of the time, government offices are doing it the traditional way, which means manually and will surely result to long queues and slow processing time, plus a lot of bureaucratic red tape.

Now one local government unit wants to change all that, particularly the local government of Valenzuela City, as they announced the completion of internet, mobile phone, and visa card payment options that will allows Valenzuela residents to pay vehicle license fees, and business and real property taxes at city hall via online or more specifically through credit and ATM cards, and via mobile payments. This will also make the City Government of Valenzuela the first local government unit (LGU) in the country to successfully complete and automate tax payments in Philippines.

In an article on PIA, Valenzuela City Information Officer Ms. Ahna Mejia said “the system which was started in the last quarter of 2013 is a program that has been launched by the city government to simplify tax payment,… the city government also uses its mobile money payment facility which accepts payments for real property taxes for now,… the system accepts payments from mobile money platforms such as Smart Money (Smart Communications Inc.) and G-Cash (Globe Telecom).

The expansion of Valenzuela’s payment facilities was made possible through the Sangguniang Panlungsod Ordinance No. 75 Series of 2013, also known as “Automated Payment Tax System of Valenzuela City” and this will serve as a great example for other local government unit to modernize and automate their department, most specially those department with a bad reputation of red tape and, graft and corruption practices.
